High Energy Theory Seminar
The double-copy construction is usually phrased in terms of on-shell amplitudes. However, certain theories such as Chern-Simons, Yang-Mills in 2d, and BF, exhibit the color-kinematics duality off-shell and can therefore be double copied of-shell. The resulting double copy for Chern-Simons theory describes flat connections and closely resembles Kähler gravity or Kodaira-Spencer theory, it is nonlocal and the fields are constrained. In fact, a complex generalization of the double-copy map lands on these actions exactly. Remarkably, the double copies of 2d YM and BF theories do share many properties with the Chern-Simons double copy but they can be written in a local form. I will describe these results starting from the color-kinematics duality and kinematic algebras, and if time permits I will also talk about generalizations of the double copy as well as a topological string origin for the Chern-Simons double copy. The talk is mostly based on [https://arxiv.org/pdf/2409.11484,https://arxiv.org/abs/2506.09869].
